Budget is important because we all have an amount that we just aren't comfortable spending (regardless of the "deal"). Rest be assured - if you offer a budget of $1000, 99% of the time, any recommendations you get will include the "if you spend $1100, you can get this" response. This is a hard one for many because it always elicits that "but what if I'm missing out on this great feature if I only spend just a bit more" feeling (especially for new photographers).
